Sensex surges over 1,100 points in opening trade, Nifty above 9,500

Markets opened on a positive note on Wednesday with the benchmark BSE sensex rising over 1,100 points after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a mega stimulus package of Rs 20 lakh crore, which is around 10 per cent of the country's GDP (gross domestic product).
